Dance Leaders Award

The Dance Leader Award is a leadership programme for young people who have an interest in Dance and Leadership. The Dance Leadership programme allows leaders to develop skills to lead dance sessions within the Active Schools Network

There are two levels on the Dance Leadership pathway which allows pupils in S3 and S5 to participate over a two-year period. Applications open in February each year to S2 and S4 pupils to apply.

Silver Level

The first step in the Dance Leader programme which runs over 2 years. Applications open to S2 pupils each year in February. The silver programme will run until pupils are finishing S4. Dance Leaders will gain a SCQF level 4 or 5 in Dance Leadership. Leaders attending will develop the skills to plan and lead dance sessions, learn dance games and choreographic skills. Throughout the Dance Leader Award there are opportunities to gain additional awards such as Saltire Awards and multi-skills.

As a Silver level Dance Leader, you will be able to support your Active Schools Coordinator and Health and Wellbeing Team to deliver after school sessions within a local Primary school. You will also be able to support schools to attend the Active Schools Dance Competition.
