Marr Cluster
Leadership
Marr College pupils have the opportunity to take part in the Active Schools Leadership Programmes.
Dance Leaders are involved in the cluster primary schools during term 1. Dance leaders work with pupils P1 up to P7 with more experienced dance leaders also having the opportunity to work within the secondary school and community sessions.Dance Leaders train teams to take part in the South Ayrshire Dance Competition
Young Ambassadors at Marr College run the school Sports Council, meeting regularly with pupils from S1-S6. They also survey the cluster school P7s to form the next years extra-curricular programme. Young Ambassadors encourage others to participate in sports clubs, community clubs and Competitive School Sport events within Troon and South Ayrshire.
Coaching Academy is open to S5 pupils. Coaching Academy pupils lead sessions within the cluster schools in year one as well as supporting delivery at holiday camps in Easter and summer. Year two pupils support delivery within Marr College and community groups.
Sports & Recreation
As part of the curriculum the PE department run the SCQF Higher and National 5 Sport & Recreation Award.
The senior pupils are currently learning to assist with activity sessions, creating fitness programmes and daily centre duties within the school, primary schools and leisure community setting. Active Schools work with PE in the organising employment opportunities in the sport and recreation industry by offering the leaders opportunities to develop their career in sport.
