Kyle Cluster

Kyle Academy is a non-denominational secondary school situated in the southern part of Ayr. Kyle Academy’s catchment area covers Forehill Primary and Grammar Primary. The Academy has accommodation for 830 pupils. Leadership Programmes

Coaching Academy

Sammy Jones & Paul Gibbons are part of the Active Schools Coaching Academy having been selected through an interview process.

As part of the Coaching Academy there are number core courses: Multi-Skills, Child Protection, First Aid and Disability Awareness.

The pupils will also complete additional courses in their chosen sports. In turn, they will be given the opportunity to assist in the delivery of sports coaching within the primary & secondary schools as well as within a community setting.

Dance Academy

There are a number of Dance Leaders within Kyle Academy:

  • Iona Grieg is entering year three of the programme.
  • Ciara Wallace, Heather Kennedy, Cassie Kelly & Niamh Brook are year two dance leaders
  • Niamh McIntosh & Abby Dunlop are this years new Dance Leaders.

The girls have developed their skills by attending the Dance workshop and also completing the SCQF Level 5 Dance Leader Award delivered by Active Schools. The girls will be continuing to develop dance across the Kyle Cluster within both primary and secondary schools.

Young Ambassadors

Within Kyle Academy there are six Young Ambassadors.

The key role as a Young Ambassador is to motivate and inspire other young people to participate in sport, promote sport within the school to and continue with the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 Legacy. This will be achieved by:

  • Raising awareness of opportunities to furthermore participate in physical activity in schools, clubs and community sports hub
  • Promoting an active lifestyle in sport in schools, clubs and community sports hub
  • Raising awareness and using the excitement of all major sporting events

Within Kyle the Ambassadors will develop a Notice board within the P.E Department which the Ambassadors will use to promote the extra-curricular clubs within the school.
